In addition to my sound and music work, I've also had the opportunity to work in the video production realm during my time at Middle Tennessee State University. As part of our graduate studies, we are required to take two courses in Visual Aesthetics where we learn about camera and lens selections, framing, lighting, on set audio production, editing, color correction, and proper codecs for visual media. The presented video projects were produced exclusively with the use of the Adobe Creative Cloud software suite, specifically Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop. Both videos were also filmed with Blackmagic Pocket Cinema 4K Cameras with various lenses by Canon and Rokinon.
The first video on this page is a virtual studio tour of the MTSU RIM department facilities produced during the summer of 2020 as part of my graduate teaching assistant duties of the summer semester. This video was specifically made to show incoming undergraduate and graduate students the facilities available at MTSU, who were unable to tour in person due to the COVID-19 pandemic., as well as advertise our studios. My roles in this video project included: Director, Producer, Editor, Videographer, and Audio Mixer.
The second video was my final project for Visual Aesthetics II. This video was inspired by my first semester of teaching an undergraduate course in MIDI/Synthesis, specifically thinking how would I show those who aren't necessarily interested in synths that they are amazing instruments with tons of musical potential. With this, "Patchworks" was born. The idea behind this project is the creation of a web series discussing one well established synth per video, digging into its history of use, and how to create patches that are familiar to music audiences everywhere. This particular episode filmed for class focuses on the Moog Minimoog and how to use the alternatives available to those on a budget. My roles in this project included: Director, Producer, Editor, and Audio Mixer.
